Camera 35mm Resource in Q&A
I have a Polaroid a520B camera(35mm) and i was wondering if there was a lense i could use for underwater? This camera doesn't have one of those zooms that come in and out when u turn it on and off and it has 4X zoom and 5.1 megapixels, just seeing if there are any options

Antoni replied: "underwater case is what you need, try seacrching the net for one: Polaroid a520B underwater case a"

Edwin replied: "First, you have a DIGITAL camera, not a 35mm. 35mm is a film size. An underwater housing would cost more than your camera. Just get a large zip lock clear plastic bag, make sure its leak-proof, and seal your camera inside it. Stretch it tight over the lens (you'll probably get a little distortion but since you're underwater it shouldn't matter) and use a rubber band to hold it. Get all the air out of the bag and you're set."

Were can I buy a canon camera 35mm? What is the best place to buy a canon camera 35mm?

Edwin replied: "Check these sites: Any on-line seller you are not familiar with or who has an offer that just seems too good to be true should be checked out at: "

Spike F replied: "http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en&q=canon+camera+35mm&um=1&ie=UTF-8"

mark a replied: "why not go to your nearest camera store and try things out? it's better than doing it online. you can get inputs from the sales person provided that they are competent and knowledgeable. you can even try out the product before purchasing it so you wont go home with a defective unit. what kind are you looking for? im also shopping for an eos-1n. if that's the kind you are looking for, then im happy for you! YEAH! or if you have the a bottomless pocket, why not go for the eos 1v! YEAH YEAH YEAH!!! looking forward to seeing your photographs."

Good 35mm camera for beginners? I've just started taking a class and its been recommended I purchase my own camera. 35mm is the only requirement, I'm open to any and all suggestions at this point.

Edwin replied: "Minolta SRT-202 with an MC ROKKOR-X 50mm f1.4 or f1.7 Pentax K1000 with 50mm f1.4 or f1.7 Canon FTb with 50mm f1.4 or f1.7 Should be able to find them on ebay. Look for a seller with a very high Feedback Score. Ask if the battery compartment is clean and if the light meter works and if the lens is free of fungus or haze and if the diaphragm is smooth and oil-free."

holacarinados replied: "Pentax K1000. My mother used it for her basic photo class, and had success with it; it's small, easy to handle, everything is well-placed"

fhotoace replied: "Check craigslist. I just bought a nice little Nikon N60 with 28~80mm lens for my ex-wife for $50. Everything works great and it was in near new condition."

DougF replied: "If you are going to make this first camera the beginnings of a more complete system, you should think about which of the lens mounts you select. Nikon, Canon and Pentax have all now retained their current lens mount for over two decades. In the case of the Nikon F mount and the Pentax K mount, other camera body makers use this lens mount to give them access to the range of lenses that are available. Currently, Canon seems to have the largest range of lenses available, with Nikon close behind. Pentax has a decent range of current lenses, but is well behind the other two. If building a photography system is not you key interest now, then you might want to consider some of the more classic cameras, such as the older manual focus Canon (FD mount), Olympus, Minolta, etc. These were all very good cameras in their day, although many of them are now a quarter of a century or more old, and you will need to be careful to get one that is working properly."

Joy replied: "I started with a Cannon Rebel and it was great. It has basic manual and automatic settings that are very easy to use."

gryphon1911 replied: "I'd recommend a Nikon N90s. They can be found cheap, will work with all the lenses from that era plus the modern ones. Look in the following places for a used one:"

Ricoh camera 35mm manual XR-X 3PF where can i find them online?? I would like to know if there is a website somewhere that i could find information on a Ricoh XR-X 3PF 35mm manual camera i need to know how much it is selling for because i have a chance to get a used one for 70 dollars and i dont know if that is a good price

PrettyLadie12 replied: "search google"

toddrick replied: "on the internet"

muck savage replied: "http://www.ricohzone.com/support/support_fax_35mm.html try this!!!!! hope it helps"

KatieK replied: "This website has reviews and they list the price paid. I also found one on ebay for $58."

x x replied: "http://www.ricohzone.com/support/support_manuals_digital.html"

TomTom replied: "try yahoo shopping"

DougF replied: "I bought one recently on eBay for AUD51. Postage costs were under AUD10, so the package cost me just over AUD60 by the time I had it in my hand. Currently there is only one appearing on eBay, and it is listed currently at GBP29. I would say that $70 is a bit more expensive than the current market, but not by that much that you shouldn't consider it. Is the seller prepared to lower the price or not?"

I have a Yashica 230 A-F SLR camera (35mm) with a Kyocera AF 70-210 mm lens and also a Sigma 28-70 mm lens.? I would like to know if I can use these camera lens in a digital SLR camera body? Thanks.

garry.mullen replied: "yes, technically you could, if the mount fits i:e bayonet or screw but bcoz these lenses are optical you wouldn't have digital zoom capability"

electrosmack1 replied: "You didnt specify for which camera mount, but if if it's for a Nikon, Pentax lens mount, then yes. I've never heard of Kyocera lenses, but I do know Yashica. As far as I know, they wont fit a digital SLR camera. If for the F mount, or K mount, then the Sigma will. Otherwise, no. I dont really know what the guy above was talking about digital zooms, but as you know, a digital SLR has interchangable lenses. So, dont worry about digital zoom; a DSLR does not have fixed focal range."

anthony h replied: "Unfortunately, the Yashica 230 AF uses the Kyocera/Yashica autofocus bayonet mount. No digital SLR has been developed that uses this mount. There are adapters to allow the camera to use Contax lenses, and Contax did make a digital SLR. But the Contax digital N used a different lens mount."

George Y replied: "I used to work at a camera store and sold those cameras and lenses. There are no current digital SLR cameras that will function fully and correctly with those lenses. To be frank, those are very old designs and have been surpassed by even the most economical OEM optics from current manufacturers like Nikon, Canon, etc. Find some photography student who is looking for a nice 35mm system. We see many requests here and I'm sure you will get results if you post them on your local Craigslist. A current Nikon D40 dslr with 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses, (equivalent to a 25-83mm and 83-300mm on a 35mm camera) sells for under $600. It's a great starter system and will give you outstanding results. There are also great economy systems from Olympus, Canon, and Pentax that will give you amazing photos."

any idea about where to find hollywood cameras, 35mm? home camera...no....? im starting to produce my own movies, hollywood style. i want to be an actor and my friend wants to be a director so were deciding to make a movie together as fun. were hoping that instead of using those home camera's people normally use we could get something more professional. you know, something that has that hollywood "fake" look to it, you know how ordinary home cameras have that real-life soap opera kind of look to it and then the other cameras they use for the big screen films in hollywood. well, we want that HOLLYWOOD loook to it and i really want to know what is the best camera that delivers that in terms of quality and if there is the cheapest one, since im pretty much broke and need to save up, i dont want anything expensive, because this is just for fun and isnt something required. BUT i want good quiality. so where should i go? what camera should i look at i heard 35mm is the best, but their SUPER expensive. any idea how much they cost or whats the best?

kana121569 replied: "If you are "broke" then a camera like that is most likely out of your price range. I suppose you could always look on Ebay, but I'm guessing that you will still find prices way out of the just for entertainment range."

Mamiya Sekar 35mm Camera - link, what can you tell me about it please? E/EF - mount is? confirm my suspisions please. so thats a 50mm F1.7 ....? proprietry mount?

David M replied: "I inherited one very similar to this from my great uncle a couple of years ago. I think it is an older model though. Mine works great. Unfortunately I don't know much about it. I have used it a few times just playing around but it usually sits on the shelf. I found this entry on camerapedia about it though. "

captsnuf replied: "i have a friend that has a mamiya, hers has a digital back on it and she can change over to film if she wants to because she still has the other part...all i know about it is that it is a very expensive camera and she won't let anyone touch it. (aparently someone in airport security broke it apart over thier knee to see if it was a bomb...ofcourse they then had a "situation" when she went a little ballistic)"

Martin S replied: "Yes, the one in picture is a 50mm 1:1.7 lens. The E/EF mount is Mamiya specific. I don't know if there are third party lenses in that mount (most probably there are). Quality of both body and lenses by Mamiya have a good reputation. I would regard an 1:1.7 as one of the faster lenses. I read somewhere that there was also an E/EF to M42 adapter by Mamiya which allows the use of older Sekor lenses and other brands which use the M42 screw mount on the Z-series bodies. The other poster mentioning a digital back certainly refers to a Mamyia medium format camera - those are really expensive and I can understand why there was a situation at the airport ;-)"

Dr. Sam replied: "Yeah, it looks like it says 1:1.7. I don't know about this camera, but I remember that in the 1970 era, the Mamiya 1000 SLR had screw mount lenses, but this one appears to have a bayonette. Search on Mamiya-Sekor (not Sekar) and you might find more information."

Canon Camera--35mm, where and how much? I'm about to start my courses for photography and i need a 35mm camera. I already know what i want. Canon. I cant find any 35mm Canons (even though there are many), i usually find 60mm. I need to know where i can buy professional cameras, and how much.

Sakura replied: "60mm? That refers to the focal length of the lens, not the film size. How long are you planning on using this camera? Get a used one. Look on Craigslist. You can usually find them somewhere between $50 to $200. "
